Professional Background
Carmen serves as President of Summit Media Partners, LLC, which provides strategic and operational consulting services to newspapers.
From 1992 to 1996, she consulted with a Swiss firm providing services to automotive clients in lean manufacturing and value chain
management. In her early career she led product management organizations in the computer business, and held positions in international
marketing and technical sales support.
Carmen has served as a faculty member at Linkage, Inc.’s Global Institute for Leadership Development (GILD) for eleven years. She holds an
MBA from the University of Colorado and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. She volunteers as a firefighter in her community,
and with Friendship Bridge, raising capital for micro-credit loans that help Mayan women develop entrepreneurial businesses in Guatemala.

Arabia. At GILD, she has coached executives from numerous healthcare, real estate, energy, biotech, pharma, insurance, non-profit, and IT
organizations.
Summit Learning Leadership
Carmen Lamar is President and CEO of Summit Learning Partners, with over 17 years’ experience in strategic
planning and execution, leadership development, executive coaching, and leadership team facilitation. Her focus
on methods that integrate consulting, facilitation, and learning provide long-term value for her clients. Some of
Carmen’s accomplishments include:
• A strategic plan to energize and transition a traditional community newspaper to a vibrant and
relevant multi-media information source
• Design and delivery of "Leadership 20", a leadership development program for emerging leaders in
professional services firms, sponsored by the Association for Corporate Growth and developed in
collaboration with Linkage, University of Denver, University of Colorado, and Linda Kennedy and
Associates
• An organizational redesign that transformed client sales, production, and finance operations and led
to 75% reduction in costs of poor quality, and created a customer-focused, team-based, and
process-driven organization. Client gained internal expertise in coaching, change leadership,
facilitation, team leadership, and business process improvement.
• Executive coaching for numerous managers and executives to develop critical behaviors for the next
step in their careers
• Design and delivery of organizational and strategic assessment for a media group with properties
throughout the U.S.
